Our Mission

To play a significant role in India- the state of Karnataka in particular- attaining the goal of being one of the countries-states with conscious measures for decreasing levels of disability from the present levels of 15% to at least an acceptable 2-3% decrease by the year 2020 at the activities [secondary] & participation levels [tertiary] – if not primary prevention which needs a huge support from health & administrative departments. The improvement at activities level can be done by Knowledge translation to professionals to set reasonable protocols & participation domain by creating community awareness & parent training.

Aim

Early identification& intervention of disabilities by reaching the unreached rural population through outreach programmes.

Prevention of disabilities through the promotion of better prenatal, perinatal and postnatal care measures.

Acting as a catalyst in bringing together agencies involved in prevention of disabilities and to help in publicizing research findings for policy development at the local to the national level.

Mobilization of public support for the enactment of legislative measures for prevention and help.

Initiating new and supporting the existing projects related to basic and applied research in the field of disability particularly in documenting epidemiological trends in disabilities.

Capacity building in rehabilitation professionals to enhance intervention at the secondary level and thereby increase functionality of persons with disabilities.

Charitable trust.

Who We Are

Corpus of Rs 75 lacs built through donations.

Registered under Income-tax Act, 1961, donations to the trust eligible for tax benefits under section 80G.

Works closely with the Spastics Society of Karnataka (SSK) and is currently located on the SSK premises.

Active participation from leading doctors who form the Scientific Advisory Committee.
